Many people have no idea what to expect from cannabis highs. Below we’ll briefly touch on some common experiences to give you a sense of what to expect. We encourage you to ease into therapy as it’s the best way to get acquainted with how cannabis makes you feel.

  • Some consider being high a side effect, while true, is actually one of the main reasons cannabis is so great.
  • The high from cannabis can vary based on strain type, the ratio of CBD to THC, how you take it, and how much you use. It also varies between people, not everyone will experience the same effects.
  • Some stains will mellow your body, called a “body high”, where you experience a serene comfort all over and can sink into relaxation.
  • Others can make you feel a “head high” where your head feels lighter, you may experience things more vividly or time may slow down. Things may become more interesting and you may want to smile or giggle at everything. It’s a great feeling!
  • Some strains will allow you to experience both a body and head high. You have to experiment to find the right therapy for yourself.
  • Some patients may feel their mind race or even mild paranoia. We don’t typically see these effects, but we want you to be aware so you can decide when you’ve taken a little too much, or maybe this isn’t the right strain for you. But don’t worry, you’re not going to start seeing dragons coming out of the walls.

Cannabis Tips

  • Lemon water with lemon zest or chewing on peppercorn can reduce the high feeling. Taking CBD-only products can also counteract the high produced by THC.
  • Keep your body hydrated
  • Take a THC holiday every so often - that’s a 3-7 day break from using products with THC. This will help you reset your tolerance.

Traveling with Cannabis

Unfortunately, cannabis is still illegal at the Federal level. That means it is illegal to leave Florida, whether driving or flying, with medical marijuana. When traveling within the state of Florida, make sure to secure your products, keep the dispensary labels on them, and always carry your medical marijuana card!

Some states may have their own medical marijuana laws and might accept your Florida certification. Florida, itself, doesn’t honor out of state cards. Please do some research before traveling to find out the local state laws.

We take the stress out of getting your medical marijuana card.
